2012???????? another question…help?
are people gonna die just like the dinosaours did in 2012? i’m shaking now and crying i’m not kidding. so scared :( theres so many ppl who said the world will end, the polar shift, sun storms… i dont know what to do anymore im just so scared

Without going into a lot of details here’s the facts.

The only thing in all this nonsense that is true is that the current version of the Mayan long count of days will end soon, mostly thought to be 21 or 23 December 2012.

There are a few pieces of nonsense about galactic line-ups. Most of them are lies, one story is true and happens twice every year if you are not too careful about exact directions and the other was closest to true in 1998, we are now moving away from it. In other words, they don’t matter.

Everything else is a direct lie. This covers only some of them.

Mayans predicted disaster – direct lie

Mayans knew anything about galaxies – direct lie.

Planets line up, they can’t and they will not – direct lie.

Claims of Nostradamus, Merlin, Mother Shipton, Chinese, Egyptian – Hindu, Zoroastrian, Sumerian prophecies – direct lies, all of them.

Bible Codes – direct lies and they have been known to be faked since at least 1998.

Planet X – direct lie, it failed to kill us in 2003 so the woman who invented it postponed it till 2012 to fit in with the Mayan calendar nonsense. You can keep on making money that way.

Nibiru – direct lie, even the fraud who made it up says it won’t be back till after 2085

Timewave Zero – complete nonsense and a direct lie. The inventor was a drug addled numerologist.

Web bot and photon belt – direct lies.

Revelation or Old Testament prophets predict it – direct lies.

It all started with some relatively innocent new age drivel about the Mayan calendar supposedly ending and there would be some kind of shift of human consciousness.

That was not scary enough to sell survival supplies, disaster shelters, guns, books, DVDs and nonsensical documentaries to unscrupulous TV transmitters. So it got turned into the end of the world for commercial purposes. Profit is the only motive, the source of the profits are gullible kids and adults who are – well you know.

The 2012 movie seem to be based on the lying prophecies for 2003.

Geneciszsz | Nov 03, 2009

no. that’s just the end of the 4th calendar. they can’t make a 5th cause the people who made the calendar died already. it’s also the year that the sun is supposed to align with the milky way.
Sidney C | Nov 03, 2009

Don’t worry, they made a mistake and now the calendar is set on 2207 … so by that time u wont have had headaches for some time
Angi | Nov 03, 2009

…No, you won’t die. First, the world isn’t gonna end because the Maya calendar ends. Second, they miscalculated. The calendar ends in 2212, not 2012. So take a deep breath and calm down, you’ll be fine.
Lisa G | Nov 03, 2009

Oh puleeeze. Use your brain. How is it that any being could be able to predict the future?
Oldwhiteguy2earth | Nov 03, 2009

No one knows with any certainty what is going to happen to man…including the Mayans. Yes, historical epic events has taken place according to the Mayan calender but man is still walking the Earth. You really need to cheer up and do something product like chasing boys or getting an education.
Hangfire | Nov 03, 2009

First off you need to take Christ into your life so when the earth does end you will be in a better place, one that I could never describe to you.

Second, I think Nostradamus was a con artist. All of his "prophecies" are very general and could be misread by anyone to fit into any situation. I think the Aztecs figured, "why the heck should I make out a calendar for eternity if I will not be here…" and all the hoopla about the polar shifts is a way for the environmentalist to think they are right about something.

Just my opinion but if my time comes in 2012 or 2112, I know I will be ready!! Will you?
Boxercurl | Nov 03, 2009

they based that assumption of the mayan calendar supposedly and a couple weeks ago a reporter went to the mayans and interviewed them to see what they thought about the 2012 predictions. what the interview showed was that they had no idea that everyone thought the world was going to end and were shocked. clearly there has been some misinterpretation and there is nothing to worry about. why should we worry over something that the people the its based off of arent worried? just relax and take a deep breathe. :)

It’s all nonsense. Complete and total fabrications. Hoaxes. Lies.

None of the people saying these things are scientists, and much of it is physically impossible. There are no predictions of solar storms, giant planet collisions, tidal waves, polar shifts, planetary alignments, galactic alignments, etc. None. Zero.

Here’s a debunking from when a lot of this was floating around in 2003. Does any of it sound familiar?
http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/pla netx/

They let 2003 pass, erased the date, wrote in "2012" and trotted it all out again.

2012 is complete nonsense.

2012 is a complete 100% junk science internet hoax; usually believed by people who did poorly in their science classes!

The planets NEVER ACTUALLY ALIGN. Their orbits prevent an actual straight line alignment.

Planet X does not exist anywhere in the sky. No where on the internet can you find the sky coordinates for this fake planet. It is not hiding behind the sun (we orbit the sun ), it is NOT visible from the Southern Hemisphere. We can see in every direction with our telescopes.

No near Earth objects are headed our way for a catastrophic impact in 2012.

The Earth and sun "line-up" on the center of the galaxy every year on December 21st! We are actually 6 degrees away from the center MOVING AWAY!

The whole thing is a complete hoax. Watch the famous astronomer Neil Tyson make fun of the 2012 hoax.

Is it a mark of strength for a man not to show his emotions?
In the US at least there is a lot of pressure on men to be almost robotic in their lives. I know some will say it doesn’t exist but think about it. Men, when was the last time you were so happy you made an emotional display in public? Cried because you were sad? Especially in public? Would you tell your best friend you love them? Some guys don’t even hug their own father much less a friend. Could you do any of these things without feeling as though others are looking at you funny? Thinking you were fruity or something? Could you even do them without looking at your self funny? A man isn’t supposed to feel fear, when faced with danger you should not run. You should protect those around you that may not be able to protect themselves like women and children. This leaves us with one emotional response that is partially acceptable… Anger… Which we all know is not a virtues thing.

So as a man you cannot love your friends.
You cannot show fear.
You cannot show sadness or weakness.
You cannot show joy.
You should not show anger.

Notice that I put show, men still feel all of these emotions, we just cannot outwardly express them for fear of ridicule. This is just what I felt and influenced me the turn out the way I did. Lots of walls though a stable person.

It’s the man who can show his emotions that shows strength. He isn’t letting others dictate how he should and should not be. Now, having said that, I agree completely with everything you said here. It is a shame when we as a society deem it weak if a man shows any emotion but at the same token, we wonder when a man is emotionless almost apathetic. I don’t understand why if a man does express his feelings, it is considered showing his feminine side. Why is this only feminine? You said it yourself, you cannot outwardly express these feelings. They are feelings and we all have them. Some at different degree than others.

browneyedgirl | Nov 19, 2009

I think it’s a mark of strength for anyone to be able to put a barrier of rationality between their emotions and their outward reactions to things.

This is why it’s normal (if discouraged) for a two-year-old to throw herself to the floor screaming and kicking when she doesn’t get a piece of candy, and it’s disturbing if she does the same thing at 20, or 40.

I agree with most of the gender roles that earlier versions of feminism tore down, but I think they tore down the wrong side of this one. Traditionally, men are expected to be more stoic and more able to control their reactions to hardship, while it was tolerable for women to act a bit more childishly, because society thought less of their ability to do otherwise. In tearing down that gender role, I think that society in general should raise its expectation of all of us to be MORE stoic and emotionally stable in the recognition that we’re all capable of it (not just the men); we shouldn’t lower our universal standard to the lesser of the two gender roles and think it’s somehow admirable for someone to throw a tantrum when they’re having a hard time.
CAustin II | Nov 19, 2009

No, I think it takes a stronger man to come in touch with his own "femininity." I’ve never had any real relationship with my father but when I asked him if he’d cry at my funeral and he responded "I don’t know" that was going a little too far with the "men shouldn’t cry" idea.
highonlifeagain! | Nov 19, 2009

Yea that’s so true, which is why it takes a really strong man who is comfortable with himself to express emotions since they will get, as you say, ridiculed by society if they do. Emotions are a human thing, not gender based, so it doesn’t make sense that men can’t show them
Drama247 | Nov 19, 2009

wow that’s something I haven’t really given a lot of thought about I guess their is really lots of stigma regarding men outwardly showing emotion being positive or negative it seems really rather unfair I think if a man cries because some one he loves has passed away that he is not weak just grieving if he cries and the birth of his child he is over joyed I see nothing wrong with display-es of emotion in either gender
HAILEY | Nov 19, 2009

I’ve seen men cry at funerals, and not one single person has every said there was something wrong with that.

The only time I ever show unabashed joy, like most other synthetic organic chemists, is when I get a new reaction to work. We are the happiest people on Earth when that happens and we don’t give a f*** who sees us.

If men didn’t run in danger, we wouldn’t have very many soldiers, now would we?

But you do have a legitimate claim and I have noticed these things as well. Much of that are problems inherent in the narcissistic, homophobic society of the US, and is not so much of a problem in other cultures.

There are other reasons men have to be this way. In the past it was a very difficult and dangerous thing to be a man. If you showed weakness you were libel to be seen as weak and you adversaries may attack and kill you. A man had to appear to be strong and in control at all times or he was dead meat.

EDIT: To the women that think men are controlled by their emotions, and think like women, but that we hide our emotions:

Men do have emotions, but we are not controlled by them, and our brains are not hardwired to see all interactions through the haze of our emotional turmoil, like women are. I have no problem with women being emotional, and acting like women, so why do you so desperately try to feminize us, when we just don’t see or feel things to the same degree or same way as you women? That is why we consider the attempt to turn us into weeping pansies, as "man-hating." Accept us as we are.
Truthseeker | Nov 19, 2009

While I agree with Caustin that emotion should be controlled, I disagree with the idea that complete stoicism is the best path. Humans are emotional. We can express emotion without letting it control us. I don’t think it’s emasculating for a man to be able to express feeling for friends, or fear or anything else. It doesn’t mean he has to weep in public, but he also doesn’t have to be a robot.
Tronix | Nov 19, 2009

Yes, that’s the idea. However new egalitarian society and women especially want to continue to hold men to these standards, yet not tell them of their reward. So men grow up these days thinking that simply being a decent, nice personable human is enough to make them socially successful; and when they fail they find it inexplicable and don’t know how to cope. It’s truly a social crime how men are slighted these days.
Bj | Nov 19, 2009

I think it takes more strength for a person to be unashamed of their feelings. I once heard someone say, "there is no shame in tears, if they’ve a good reason to be shed". I’d say that sums it up pretty well. I’m not saying we should all revel in our feelings, or that we should never hold things in until we can vent them privately….but there are times when it’s okay for a man to be afraid, to show vulnerability like hurt or grief or loneliness, to show compassion, to say "I love you".

It makes me sad that men have this double standard to live with: that women can be emotional but they cannot because it’s "weak". It’s not right.
Blue-Eyed Christian | Nov 19, 2009

I think it’s weakness
Blueberry Head | Nov 19, 2009

Not strength, but merely restraint or discipline…assuming he’s not helplessly high on dope at the time.

We don’t fear ridicule–it’s simply there are relatively few things worth showing emotion over, and they get fewer and fewer as you get older. Life becomes predictable.
Savvy Bulge, Relapsed | Nov 19, 2009

no its sexist to think that men have to be stoic all the time obviously
Dior | Nov 19, 2009

I think you’re a little confused. Men can’t hide ALL their emotions. Also its not a strength to show ALL your emotions, ALL the time. It is a strength to be able to control and conquer your emotions. Because certain situation a man OF THE WORLD have to do this. The ability to show your emotions have nothing to do with not loving your friends, hugging your father, etc. But some men don’t like to show the more "feminine" emotions, which is okay. Just like some women don’t like showing the more "masculine" emotions. Its a time and place for everything. Even showing and not showing your emotions.
TS | Nov 20, 2009

To emote is to show one’s humanity. It is also very healthy, if done within the confines of self-control and reasonableness.

I want a phone that i can share files between my computer…?
Hey
Do you know any mobile phones that i can share files between my computer (easily)?
I currently have a blackberry pearl 8100, but it is a piece of shyte… the cameras crap, and you have to download so many progams to share files (and it doesn’t work, except through bluetooth, except i can’t send files from the computer to the phone, and it takes so long). I want a phone where i can just plug it in and add files to the phone or computer, that doesn’t require a computer genius.

ps.. i have a mac, so the phone has to be compatible with it.
not a business phone either, or to expensive.
I was thinking of getting a nokia 6600i, it comes with a connectivity cable, would that work?

I also have a mac computer, and the phone i use to do this is a Motorola.
Any version (espically the latest one) should be compatable to do this.

The phone came with a cord to connect to the comp,
but also, blue-tooth is quite good with smaller files.
I have a 2.5 year old motorola and the camera isn’t all that crash hot, but i’m sure they would’ve improved a little now :)

But you should just inquire at your local phone shop- to get more ‘Professional’ advice :)
Goodluck!

P.S- phone is definatly not ‘bussiness’ use at all.
+ It isn’t all that expensive.
If you want more info on the motorola, just type it in in your search box ;)

Adulthood
Adulthood (2008)

IMDB rating: 7.00

Plot: Powerful, disturbing and moving in equal measure, 2005’s acclaimed “Kidulthood” took us deep into London’s unseen underbelly, delivering a raw, hard-hitting reflection of what life is like for 21st century teenagers, where sex is currency, drugs are easy to come by and violence is a way of life. Six years after Sam Peel is released from jail for killing Trife, he soon realises that life is no easier on the outside than it was on the inside and he’s forced to confront the people he hurt the most. Some have moved on, others are stuck with the repercussions of his actions that night, but one thing’s for certain – everyone has been forced to grow up. Through his journey Sam struggles to deal with his sorrow and guilt and something else he didn’t expect – those seeking revenge. As he’s pursued by a new generation of bad boys, Sam sets about trying to get the message across to his pursuers that they should stop the violence, much like Trife tried to tell him all those years ago. Can Sam stop the cycle of violence and make something positive from the destruction he caused or will his journey into Adulthood end here? A positive tale disguised in the bleakness of its environment, Adulthood pushes home the moral lesson that crime doesn’t pay.

Do people really "grow up" when high school ends?
Okay, I really have always hated school.
One of the main reasons are the people.
Rude comments, gossip, racial and gender profiling, being laughed at and judged for pretty much ANYTHING, the list goes on.

I’m aware that teenager’s hormone levels and a lack of mental maturity contributes to the shallowness and stupidity a lot of them have, but will I have to put up with this crap in adulthood? Some people say high school society doesn’t end but others say people grow up.

Also, I’m not saying ALL teenagers are dumb, just a lot of them.

Unfortunately, some people never grow up. They’re not going to suddenly change when high school ends.
Amelie | Nov 21, 2009

People (some of them ) do get more mature in the years after high school ends. It more or less comes naturally to them as they realize they have to become more mature in order to make it through life.

But these changes don’t come overnight, some people (especially guys) still act that way even through college. And there are some that still have a jr.high level of maturity long after high school is over and never really grow up.

people like you do not enjoy high school
because they tend to be non social
do not party
and do not wish to learn and love and enjoy more

they hide and recluse to their own ideals
and share little thus never partying or getting into a fun group and enjoying the fun party scene

Stillness. Silence.
A girl kneels by a lake. Her willowy pale fingers dip into the water. The fish dart around her hand, trying to nibble at her dirty skin. Her figure is graceful, hunched and inhuman.
A birdcall sounds through the air. The girl, startled, stands, staring about. Her untrained ears search for the source of the noise. The frightened fish dart around, avoiding her splash.

What Color Are Your Eyes?
Blue- pure at heart, passionate, lovable, very caring and kind, beautiful, role- the painter

You are a loyal friend and can keep a secret. Your element is fire.

Deep Green -Just like blonds with ocean-blue eyes, individuals with deep green eyes project a highly energized and inventive personality -both in practical and personal affairs. As opposed to the expression

-My personal view of authors, it seams that every author has think of it all like:
*J.K. Rowling a.k.a (magical world).
*Stephanie Meyer a.k.a (ms. vampire).

Anyways This is my STORY PLOT. ( I already have the character history written 2 pages each per character but I can not stop thinking that I would be tagged to Ms.S.Meyer). Please put comments anything: THANK YOU! to anyone who posts here.

My Title: "The Apocalyptic Return".
